John's 1971 Harley Davidson Sportster

John's 1971 Harley Davidson Sportster

I just can't seem to leave things alone and I was told by someone that you just can't make a beautiful looking Ironhead Chopper. Well!!! I took that as a real slap in the face and a challenge. So... I have been tossing and turning at night, sinking all my hard earned money, working overtime and trying to think of ways to rent out my wife to finance my project.

I have the base of it done and have no doubt that I will have her done by this summer. She will be named after a W.W.II B-17 Bomber who's name was "Rhapsody In Red" She made it through the war with 95 bombing missions. I will have her nose art pained on both sides of the black Paughco mustang tank (being done as I write this).

I thought I would include the picture of her on the motorcycle bench along with the nose art from the aircraft. She is a 1971, original 900 with forged TRW pistons (that's right...I found honest-to-god FORGED pistons). She has many more goodies to mention right now. I will certainly send the pictures when she is completed but I thought some of our club members would appreciate what we can do with an old Ironhead.
